چکیده

The concept of systematic software reuse is simple: the idea of building and using "software preferred parts." By building systems out of carefully designed, pre-tested components, one will save the cost of designing, writing and testing new code. The practice of reuse has not proven to be this simple however, and there are many misconceptions about how to implement and gain benefit from software reuse. This panel brings together several researchers and practitioners of software reuse to discuss what they see as some of the most important facts and myths about software reuse.

Boosting Passage Retrieval through Reuse in Question Answering

Question Answering (QA) is an emerging important field in Information Retrieval. In a QA system the archive of previous questions asked from the system makes a collection full of useful factual nuggets. This paper makes an initial attempt to investigate the reuse of facts contained in the archive of previous questions to help and gain performance in answering future related factoid questions. I...

Software Reuse and Safety

This tutorial addresses issues and current practices regarding the important topic of the interaction of software reuse and safety. This topic has become very relevant to modern embedded systems in domains from aerospace to automotive, as new architectures are introduced that encourage the development and use of reusable components. The two sections of the tutorial provide first an introduction...

KOntoR: An Ontology-enabled Approach to Software Reuse

Research on software reuse libraries has extensively dealt with representation and retrieval issues of software artifacts. While representation in terms of metadata is a key issue, most systems neglect the possibilities of leveraging knowledge about the corresponding problem domain. In this paper, we present KOntoR— an ontology-enabled approach to software reuse. We show how background knowledg...
